With my friends(Part 1)

Last Saturday,Chun Yi and I both of us who are from Chinese Drama, were supposed to attend a lecture taking place at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts situated on Middle Road.We were to arrive at school at about 7.30pm by which night would have descended to gather with the rest of the club to take a school bus to the destination. It was only at 9.30pm when we were finally dismissed from the site.We chose to take a shuttle bus available that would take us back safely to the school as we reckon that it was unsafe for kids like us to wander about in the obscure streets of the city which we had no idea of.Besides,I had to meet my mother at Coronation Plaza near our school, where she would fetch me home.Chun Yi and I then decided that that was the safest thing to do.
After some twenty minutes' ride,we landed  in school.Ridiculously, the driver brought us to the international school instead of the main road where we were to alight. As some of the gates in the area were barred and the security guard  on shift had no access to those keys,we were compelled to cut through the school premises in order to access the main road, namely Bukit Timah Road, where we would traverse all the way to "rendezvous"with my mother.
There was not a single soul in the school buildings as we strolled across it with a gust of cold wind caressing our faces. The school we see at night to the one in the morning is a stark contrast. In darkness, eveything in the school seemed to be so lifeless, compared to the bustling one we see everyday. Most sections of the compound are also enveloped in darkness. We dared not dart our eyes around and kept pushing ahead with music blaring out of our phones,as suggested by Chun Yi,to quell our fears.Suddenly,Chun Yi belched that he had to answer the calls of nature at once. And so we went our way towards the toilet nearby, just to find that it was locked.Notwithstanding that, light was pouring out of the toilet through the translucent tiles and...there inside the toilet was a gigantic shadow cocking that was cocking its head to one side.
The word "ghost"instantly flashed across our minds. We trotted down the corridors and then downhill towards Gate 3 .When we were running the "race" of our lives,we happened to zoom past the security post, only with the security guard jolting up and the ridiculous look from his eyes resting on us.When we were ultimately on the main road,we heaved a sigh of relief, thinking that it was all over. However, this was not to be.Conversely, our adventures that night was at the point of beginning. It was in no time when darkness enveloped us.Though there was blinding light emitted from the flowing traffic on Bukit Timah Road, our visibility was significantly reduced due to the trees lining along the road. The stretch of forlorn, gnarling trees has  shielded us from the light and even the street lights .With the minimal light reaching us,we have to grope our way in the dark for some two minutes before our eyes can adjust to the dark conditions.
As we set our eyes far ahead,we were chagrined to find that an almost endless stretch of road awaited us.Given the murky surroundings,we felt as though we were about to take on a journey to hell. The stout trees that loomed over me were like "mascots"in the manifestation of "bulls and horses",as mentioned by the Chinese that were to escort us to our doom, especially when the leaves are rustling in the cold, night wind and the lights that flashed on us when we were "clad"in shadows give us a look of ghosts .These give up the creeps and accompanied by the wind, goosebumps were soon running over us.
Yet,we just continued to stride down the road, our mind concentrated on pulling out of this "damnation"and making it to a safety place.Out of the blue,Chun Yi,the timid one between the two of us,shrieked at the top of his voice.
"What is that?"he stammered as he lifted a wobbling finger on a figure a hundred metres away.
I squinted my eyes and peered at the object, but to no avail.Momentarily, both us froze.Did we see 'things'?
Chun Yi huddled to me as the shape of a human began to take its shape.Only then did Chun Yi let go of me.Then ,a snap rented the air for a spilt second .We glanced down and were glad that it was only a branch .The last scare we had was only when we spotted  the trunk of an enormous tree.On it was a yawning hole that was opening its vile mouth. After that,we were safely sauntering ,humming a tune as we approached the 7-Eleven convenience store that laid ahead of us to grab a cup of Slurpee to relieve ourselves before makking our way to Coronation Plaza for my mother.
Though the adventure only lasted for about a brief  twenty minutes,it has brought us immense fun and thrill, and I must say,in the process,we must have strenghtened our bonds .I fervently yearn to savour such experience in the near future.
