Thai protesters storm into TV compound

This was a horrendous news to me.I had always assumed that governments could suppress insurgents wreaking chaos and opening mutiny in the country, but this was not to be the case in Thailand, where the Red Shirt supporters, namely Thaksin's supporters, was overrunning the whole country with a single-minded drive and struggle to topple Premier Abhisit Vejjajiva and to force new elections.Last week, the army was also seen pooling up their blood which contained contagious diseases like AIDS and Hepatatis into bottles in order to convey their strong resolution to the world.
Their drive has struck another milestone today when they retreived the People's Channel satellite TV channel by force, compelling the authorities to declare a state of emergency in Bangkok despite some Thai soldiers putting on a brave front a few days ago with water cannon and tear gas. This was not an inaugural happening as it has happened in these few years.
What really shocked me was that these soldiers actually abandoned their shields and shook hand with the protesters.By right, they should be loyal to the government although some of them are also Red supporters.Split in their loyalties, they have symphathised with the protesters. The protesters even offered the soldiers and police water and now the Red Shirts were even parading with a cache of M-16 Soviet assault rifles they obtained from the police in triumph.Indeed, they had gained the upper hand. Now 18 civllians had lost their lives in the bloody clash.
In case you do not know People's Channel was established by Red Shirt supporters and some community radio stations are also allied with the protesters, who also use cell phones and social networking to communicate.
Even though I am not involved in this,I fervently hope that this escalating conflict can come to a quick end with both parties reaching a win-win situation. If this continues to run on,it will definitely eat into Thailand's growing economy as investors will not invest in Thailand in such turbulent times. Also,it's tourism industry will also plunge due to the phenomenal drop of tourists. This will affect South-East Asia's overall economic expansion and GDP.
