I would never do so. We are humans and are of the same species, the same ancestry. This means that the blood of our ancestors run in all of us,we are equal and that we should be living harmoniously together as one and help one another to promote our welfare, civilization and ensure the survival of we humans, just like what animals do. We thrive and die as one. We also have to somewhat depend on one another to survive as there is inter-connectivity among our lives. Thus, we should be doing things that make mankind flourish and glorious, not things that are detrimental to us. They say that mankind itself is large enough to destroy it, and this is absolutely correct.as our destiny lies in our very own hands. We are one of the primates among many species of creatures, the strongest of all and the very one which possesses conscience, emotions and intelligence. Our intelligence is meant for us to think for the prospect of mankind, not for the self-destruction of it.Our conscience makes us distinguish right from wrong , and with our conscience and intelligence, won't one understand that mutual respect between our same kind is integral of our development? I believe that each and every one of us have absolutely no difference at all ,because our intrinsic characteristics are the same. We humans accomplish what is today via sheer determination and cooperation, and hence, we should feel proud of ourselves, because this is the fruit of all humans, regarding any race. If I were to despise any human being of other races, it would be tantamount to doing the same on thyself, because I do not respect the human race, and as a human being myself, I don't deserve to be respected for insulting what I myself am.
Besides, even though we are of different ethnicity, I believe we share the same vision to establish peace, find happiness in the world and ensure our continuity. All of us must be involved in this arduous process by removing any forms of enmity and despise between us. Only then can we find true peace.Humans also have their own personal rights, freedom, and also their own character and personality
Last but not least, each and every race has its own lofty virtues and distinct culture that should be embraced and respected.Diversity should also exist, as the world would become monotonous if there was only one race.
God assign us the race we are in, and nobody wants to be in an so-called "inferior" race, segregated by everyone.
We should not be so self-centered and should emphatise with people of other races and spare a thought for their feelings, their racial pride and also for humanity, before we criticize them.
firstly, i agree that we should not discriminate against other races, but i believe that your argument against it really went too far. you were like (seriously) preaching and you seem to resent Mrs Watson for treating Boyd differently. you should note that Mrs Watson WAS NOT really racist. she was merely stereotyping against Boyd. if she were to discriminate against Boyd she wouldn't even let her son befriend him, as mrs anu pointed out. secondly, i firmly believe that it is actually natural to form such stereotypes. who don't, for instance, form stereotypes against Africans and believe that they are all poor?i'm pretty sure you do that too.
ReplyDeleteYes, I totally agree with Shaodian. Firstly Mrs Watson was just stereotyping Boyd. However she is not a racist as firstly she allows Boyd to befriend his son and secondly,he sympathies him and even offered him food, clothes, etc. If she was really a racist she would not even let Boyd into the house. However, most of your argument was about racism, about how racism would disrupt world peace, thus I feel that the second half of the post was out of point.
ReplyDelete"Differently" means not to treat them equally as your own race, and I do not mean Boyd. I mean people or someone who is from other races.
