Sabaatical Day 1 and 2

The long-awaited,termly sabaatical week in our school has finally kicked off yesterday,17th May,on the first day of Term 9 as the mid-year holidays begin to draw near.In this week,we are to attend compulsory courses that we have selected and bid for a few weeks ago which are either conducted by school or external teachers.Otherwise,we would have to face stringent Corrective Work Order as penalty  for the entire week.Despite some of these courses are engaging and fun-filled,they require us to pay.I placed badminton as my first choice but nonetheless was allocated guitar, which was my second option and cost 100 bucks.Guitar was not bad after all and I have fancied it all the time.It is a spectacular Western instrument largely involved in the production of pop music nowadays.I frequently immerse myself in these songs and gradually found myself inquistive of the rhythm of the guitar and thus took the initiative to explore this gem in the production of sensational music so that one day I may be able to strum out a few of my favourite songs.
At the beginning of this sabaatical each of us was provided a guitar. All of us were thrilled and puzzled at first sight of the guitar as this was the first time we had come into contact with it.The guitars come in varied colours, shapes and silhouettes but all was glittering in attractiveness. My classmates,Jun Yi,Ri Xin,Bram and Liang Hao and I,after clutching the guitar firmly ,ran over the sleek body of it with our hands before meddling around with the nylon and steel strings.
Shortly, lessons began and we were introduced to the components of a guitar.Guitar comes in a few variations, like acoustic guitar, electronic guitar and classical guitar. In this sabaatical, our attention will be mainly focused on classical guitar. We then learnt of the correct method to strum the guitar and about chords, frets etc,all pertinent to the effective use of the guitar. We were given time to practice our notes in the lesson off and on.However, one thing that I find annoying is that when I was straining my ears to hear the teacher talking, many inconsiderate students were playing the guitar, emitting blaring sounds that obstructed the class from going on smoothly. We also encountered difficulties when strumping the guitar. We had to press our fingers so hard on the strings that that were marks searing across our fingers after the lesson. For us,the first day was quite an eye-opening one.
On the second day,we continued what we were doing on the first day.Compared to the first day, today was monotonous as we had to constantly memorise notes in preparation of the performance on Friday with the Drums group on the song from Nickelback-Photographs.This is a hercules task as the notes in the song were rather complicated and fast.
Lastly, guitars and other accessories like capo and tuner, could be purchased at a economical price from the instructor. Now,I am in a dilemma and pondering whether to buy a guitar for future use.I still have to seek the permission of my parents.
I will be expecting more fun in store for the rest of the three days to come.
